Join us as a food aid volunteer

Would you like to become a food aid volunteer? 

There is no single path to becoming a food aid volunteer. However, if you are interested in volunteering in food aid, you should follow the steps below. 

Step 1: Find information on activities in your area

You can find information on volunteer roles and training on Oma Punainen Risti. Use the advanced search to find food aid courses in your area.

If you cannot find information on activities in your area or if you have any questions about food aid, please contact the district office or branch in your area (page in Finnish and Swedish only).

Step 2: Train to become a volunteer

Basic courses on food aid are organised in different locations as needed, as well as online as nationwide courses. You can sign up for courses via Oma Punainen Risti. The basic course on food aid provides you with all the skills you need to work as a food aid volunteer. 

Not all food aid volunteer roles require you to complete the basic course. If you would like to try pop-up volunteering or roles that do not require specific skills, you can find the information you need in our quick guide to food aid (available in Finnish and Swedish).
