Diverse food aid activities
The Finnish Red Cross carries out food aid activities in many different forms in around 180 localities. The Red Cross's food aid activities are about more than just food aid. Supplementary activities are organised in connection with food aid events, such as meeting places and health advice. There are many ways to volunteer for food aid:

Food aid activities are carried out in cooperation with other local actors, such as shops, schools, central kitchens, lunch restaurants, and partners that distribute food aid.
The Red Cross and several other actors organise food distributions, other food aid events, as well as the distribution of payment cards for material aid in different parts of Finland. Read more here.
As part of the Material Aid and Inclusion project, the Finnish Red Cross has distributed payment cards for material aid since 2023 in more than 100 different localities. Aid recipients are identified and payment cards are distributed locally as part of food aid activities and together with partners. You can find more information about the project and the payment cards here.
The key objectives of the Development Project for Food Aid Coordination (2024–2026) are to strengthen collaborative networks for food aid, national situational awareness, and cooperation with authorities. Read more about the development work of the project here (available in Finnish and Swedish).
