Volunteer Trainers
In the Finnish Red Cross, volunteer trainers organize basic training for the organization’s own volunteers as well as for external groups. Trainers are selected by the district or local branch based on their suitability for the role. They receive orientation for the task, which emphasizes not only subject-specific expertise but also knowledge of the organization’s values and principles, along with the development of personal training skills. A volunteer trainer in the Finnish Red Cross serves in a volunteer role, just like elected officials or group leaders in local branches.
On the volunteer trainers’ website, you can find information about the trainer role, trainer training, and the training materials available to volunteer trainers.
Shared training materials are freely accessible. Materials specific to each trainer pathway are available only to volunteer trainers who have completed Red Cross trainer training. New trainers receive access to the material bank and their pathway-specific materials upon registering for trainer training.
