At the Finnish Red Cross, we invest in an atmosphere where everyone knows that we do not tolerate sexual harassment, molestation, or abuse. We are committed to ensuring that the Finnish Red Cross is a safe environment for employees, volunteers, beneficiaries, and third parties to operate in.

It is of paramount importance that everyone internalizes their own role and task-specific responsibility and ensures that people can trust the Finnish Red Cross. We also want to ensure that every actor knows how and feels empowered to report harassment, molestation, or abuse directed at themselves or others.

Key points of the policy for the prevention of sexual harassment and abuse

  • Do not downplay sexual harassment directed at you or others.
  • Report all incidents and suspicions related to sexual harassment.
    We investigate situations fairly and confidentially. We protect the privacy and rights of the persons reporting and those who have been subject to abuse.
  • Even one case is too many for us
  • Do not subject anyone to sexual harassment, molestation, or abuse.
  • Zero Tolerance
    At the Red Cross, we do not accept sexual molestation, harassment, or abuse in any form. We have zero tolerance.

Report incidents to your supervisor, the person in charge of the activity, or via the electronic form >> redcross.fi → Reporting suspicions of misconduct

A printable poster has been made of the main messages of the policy; it can be found below as an attachment.

Self-study online course on the prevention of sexual harassment, molestation, and abuse

A self-study online course on the subject, created for all volunteers in our organization, can be found on Kompassi. The goal of the Prevention of sexual harassment, molestation, and abuse in volunteering course is that the participant:

  • is aware of the key principles of the policy against sexual harassment, molestation, and abuse;
  • knows the measures and ways the organization prevents activities contrary to the policy; and
  • knows how to implement, as needed, the procedures for intervening and reporting cases appropriately.
