Checklist before mission
To do before departure:
- Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months with a number of empty pages.
- Get an international driver's license. For more information, go to www.autoliitto.fi. The document cost will be reimbursued.
- Arrange a licence to practice in English if you are a health care/medical professional (http://www.valvira.fi/terveydenhuolto/ammattioikeudet)
- Arrange health check-up with Terveystalo for 'T-lomake', vaccinations and possible medication as instructed by FRC
- Obtain 6-12 passport photos, both black and white and color photos.
- Make sure your taxation card is up to date and consult the tax department if necessary (www.vero.fi)
- Update your REST profile (https://rest.redcross.fi/dashboard): Upload your updated CV, your passport picture, your vaccination card, update your contact information and next of kin’s contact information and your banking details
- Familiarize yourself with the National Society of your deployment country (www.ifrc.org)
- Visit the FRC web-site for more information on the FRC and be prepared to tell about it during your deployment (www.redcross.fi)
- Visit www.formin.fi for information of the Finnish Embassy in the mission country
- Check your social security status (www.kela.fi)
Have ready before your briefing:
- Passport
- Passport photos
- International driving licence
- Taxation card
- Vaccination card
- Academic and licensing certificates (health personnel)
- Health check-up form (T-lomake)
- Blood group card or other evidence of your blood group
- Social security forms (KELA Y38), if applicable
FRC will organize:
- Employment contract
- Visa (unless otherwise specified)
- Flights
- Insurance
- Red Cross identification badges
- First aid kit, FRC clothing, sleeping bag, mosquito tent (when needed)
- To Whom It May Concern -letter for border crossing procedures
- Social security employer forms
- Tax department employer forms
