Training for Group Leaders

Training Overview
The aim of the Training for Group Leaders is to equip you, as a facilitator, with the skills to create a safe and functional group, plan group activities, and identify challenging situations. You will learn how to integrate your group’s activities into the operations of the local Red Cross branch. You will also gain tools to support both your own and your group’s well-being and resilience.
The training consists of a total of eight lessons (each 45 minutes long).
Target Group
The Training for Group Leaders is intended for all volunteer facilitators and those working with client groups. The training covers general topics related to group facilitation, making it suitable for future leaders of various activity groups. This allows facilitators from different areas to get to know each other, build their own networks, and enhance collaboration across different forms of activities.
Learning Objectives
After completing the training, participants will have gained skills to:
- Create a safe and functional group
- Plan group activities
- Identify challenging situations in group dynamics
- Use various methods to support personal and group well-being
- Integrate their group’s activities into the local Red Cross operations
Prerequisites
To participate in the training, it is important that you are already working as a group leader in a local Red Cross branch or are about to start in such a role.
Certificate
The training is credit-based, with a scope of one (1) credit. Certificates for credit-based training are issued by the Study Centre Sivis. The organizing district or branch will record the completion in the Sivis study register. Through the Sivis Network study register, you can view your own records and print your certificates, provided you have authenticated yourself in the Sivis Network. Authentication can be done, for example, using online banking credentials.
Training Formats
The training can be organized as a one-day session or over two evenings. Participant interaction, collaborative learning, and group work are essential parts of the training. For this reason, we strongly recommend that the training be conducted in person.
