Diversity in Volunteer Activities

Training Overview
The aim of the Diversity in Volunteer Activities training is to provide tools for critically examining prejudices and norms, and understanding their impact on encounters and interaction. In addition, the training offers information about equality and its importance in the work of the Red Cross, as well as ideas on how to make volunteering more accessible.
Target Group
The training is intended for all volunteers, elected officials, and employees of the Finnish Red Cross, as well as for anyone interested in the activities of the Red Cross.
Learning Objectives
After the course, participants will be able to:
- explain what norms are and how they regulate interaction and behavior
- critically examine prejudices
- describe how equality is based on law and human rights
- understand the promotion of equality as a core aspect of Red Cross activities
- plan and implement accessible volunteer activities
Prerequisites
No prerequisites.
Certificate
The training is not accredited with study credits. The certificate is issued by the Study Centre Sivis, and the completion records are entered into the Sivis study register by the organizing district or local branch. The certificate will indicate a duration of two (2) hours. Through the Sivisverkko study register, participants can view their own records and print their certificates, provided they have logged in to Sivisverkko. Login can be done, for example, using personal online banking credentials.
