Advocacy
Visible action for humanity strengthens Finnish society. An active civil society, voluntariness, and the defence of humane values strengthen communities and encourage participation in volunteer work. Such a community also functions better in the event of accidents and during crises, and encourages people to lead healthy and safe lives.
Social advocacy is one form of volunteer work. We listen carefully to the messages coming from aid recipients. We can improve their situation by conveying these messages to decision-makers.
We participate in public discourse by producing bold communications related to humanitarian aid work and by engaging actively in discussion. We communicate the results of our work at all organisational levels to the general public, aid recipients, funders, and partners.
How to get involved
We challenge everyone to take action against racism. We encourage you to adopt anti-racist guidelines in both volunteer activities and your own community, such as a hobby group or workplace. You can also participate in the Week Against Racism coordinated by the Finnish Red Cross!
