Week Against Racism – information for volunteers

The Week Against Racism encourages everyone to speak up against racism in their daily lives. Branches can participate in the campaign for example by sharing campaign materials.

In 2026, the theme of the campaign is safety. By addressing racism, we create safer communities for everyone – safer schools, workplaces, hobbies, and meeting places.

Week Against Racism takes place annually in March during the week that includes the UN Anti-Racism Day on 21 March.

The Red Cross has organized the Week Against Racism for over 30 years. Our goal is to encourage everyone to take action against racism and act for humanity in their daily lives.

Examples how Red Cross branches can participate in the Week Against Racism:

• Sharing the campaign's social media posts
• Organizing their own event or incorporating the theme into their activities, for example in the branch's activity groups
• Sharing information and campaign materials in their own networks or with local operators, such as digital materials for libraries or the Identify and Act navigator for sports clubs
• Bringing the Week Against Racism to schools – tell about the morning assembly and school materials to the municipality's education services or schools in your area. The school material brochure can be found here (available in Finnish and Swedish).
