Orientation for collection leaders

Welcome to the pages for Red Cross collection leaders. Here you will find fundraising guidelines that apply across all Red Cross collections.
As the branch's collector leader, you are an important link in the Red Cross chain of aid. You lead your branch's fundraising activities and ensure that your branch has a fundraising plan, as well as enough volunteers and collection materials to launch campaigns.

The collection plan is part of the branch's preparedness planning. A carefully prepared collection plan makes it easier to organise emergency relief collections, Hunger Day, and other potential collections. It includes the necessary information on the branch’s collection sites, collection materials, and volunteer recruiterment.
The collection plan should be updated annually.

Depositing collected funds into the bank
After the collection, transfer the cash proceeds from the collection to the central office's collection account as soon as possible. Remember to use the correct reference number.
Check the collection-specific instructions for:
- the bank account into which the funds should be paid
- your branch’s collection-specific reference number.
Deducting sales expenses
Sales proceeds are kept separate from collection proceeds. If the branch incurs expenses from sales, they may be deducted from the sales proceeds. If the sales make a loss, the branch covers the costs from its own funds.
Sales expenses are recorded in the branch's accounting. There are three options for remitting sales proceeds:
a) Pay the sales expenses from the cash box and remit the proceeds directly to the central office's money collection account. Remember to attach the receipts for sales expenses to your branch's accounts.
b) Remit the amount of the sales expenses to the branch's account and pay the sales expenses from the branch's account. Remit the proceeds to the central office's money collection account.
c) Remit the entire sales cash to the branch's account. Pay the expenses and remit the difference to the Disaster Relief Fund.

The 2026 results tracking list for the Disaster Relief Fund unrestricted collection is updated on this page approximately once a month.
On your district's sheet, you will find the collection proceeds remitted using your branch's Disaster Relief Fund unrestricted collection reference number. In Excel, you can use the filter tool to display only the remittances for your branch. MobilePay and Zettle remittances are shown on their own separate sheets.
If you have any questions regarding your branch’s collection remittances, please contact your district or email Mia at mia.ekstrom@punainenristi.fi.

Hunger Day materials can be ordered from the online shop starting 13 May. Material orders are placed through the organisation view of the online shop at www.punaisenristinkauppa.fi. Log in to the online shop, select "For the organisation" and then "Current campaigns", where you will find the campaign materials and collection equipment.
Place your order well in advance
We kindly ask that material orders be placed, preferaböy, already during spring and summer, so that the warehouse can avoid a last-minute rush and stock does not run out. The final order date is 8 September. Please stick to the deadline. We cannot guarantee that the warehouse will be able to dispatch orders arriving after the deadline. Delivery of Hunger Day materials begins on 1 August.
Do you already have online shop credentials?
User accounts are set up by customer service for the online shop, so please get in touch: verkkokauppa@punainenristi.fi. The branch chairperson requests the credentials.
A branch can have multiple user accounts, but one user must be designated as the primary user. Order confirmations for all users under the branch are sent to this user's email address. We recommend selecting, for example, the branch treasurer as the primary user.
When you notify customer service of new accounts, we can also remove unnecessary user accounts, such as for people who are no longer active in the organisation.
Customer service can also provide guidance and instructions on placing orders, and we are happy to help with any problems that arise.
