Friend Activity Trainings
Welcome to the Friend Activity training pages! On this page, you will find information about Friend Activity trainings as well as the role of a Friend Trainer.
Friend Trainings
The foundation of the Friend Trainings is the Friend Activity Basic Course, which is available in the following languages: Finnish, Swedish, English, Plain Finnish, Ukrainian, and Russian.
The Friend Course is a three-hour training in which the volunteer familiarises themselves with loneliness as a phenomenon and with the Red Cross's Friend Activities. After the course, the participant receives a certificate of completion and can fill in an electronic friend profile.
Supplementary Trainings
After the course, volunteers are encouraged to deepen their skills through Friend Activity supplementary trainings. There are several of these trainings, and a Friend Trainer may deliver any of them.
Training Materials
The trainer materials used in the trainings, such as ready-made PowerPoint presentations and trainer guides, can be found in the material bank.
The materials are intended only for Red Cross volunteer trainers who have completed the training. New trainers receive access rights to the material bank when they register for trainer training.
The material distributed to Friend Course participants is available to volunteers as an attachment in the description of the Friend Activity basic courses.
The contact person for Friend Trainings is Katriina Kuusela (katriina.kuusela@redcross.fi) from the Health and Wellbeing unit at the central office.
