Data protection

Privacy refers to the processing of personal data, which we as an organisation are committed to doing in accordance with laws and regulations, respecting individuals' privacy, responsibly and carefully. The FRC’s privacy policy defines the principles and responsibilities of data protection within our organisation. The policy applies to all personal data processing carried out by or on behalf of the FRC, regardless of the origin, content, purpose or location of the data processing. The privacy policy includes a tripartite agreement between the central office, districts and branches, defining the roles and responsibilities of each party. You can find these documents below.

Main principles of data protection

• Generally, the FRC branches act as data processors on behalf of the organisations, not as independent data controllers. This particularly applies to the personal data of members, volunteers and beneficiaries/clients.
• There are privacy statements for all the processing of personal data on behalf of the FRC.
• The branch is responsible for ensuring that:
  • Only necessary information is collected.
  • Individuals are informed of the purposes their personal data is used for.
  • Personal data is used only for the purposes defined in the privacy statements.
  • Personal data is processed carefully and securely.
  • Unnecessary information is deleted.
  • Personal data is not disclosed outside the organisation unless it is verified to be permissible.
  • Email communications respect the recipients’ privacy.

Privacy policy and tripartite agreement

The organisation's privacy policy and tripartite agreement (found below) should be processed by the boards of districts and branches, and the processing should be reported using this form. Privacy training for volunteers - online course

Take control of your branch's data protection at your own pace with the online course! During the course, you will learn the main principles of data protection and get practical examples of how the data protection of volunteers and beneficiaries is implemented in the branch's activities.

The online course is aimed at all volunteers who handle personal data in their duties. We particularly recommend the course for those in the following roles:
